Ushnishavijya, also known as Namgyalma translates to “Victorious Lady” in Tibetan, is a prominent deity associated with longevity, purification, and overcoming obstacles.
Ushishavijya is typically depicted with three faces and eight arms. The three faces symbolize her ability to see the past, present and future simultaneously.
Her central face is white, symbolizing purity and compassion.
The face on her right is yellow, representing her ability to overcome diseases and illnesses.
The face on her left is blue, symbolizing her power to eliminate obstacles and negative forces.
Her body is adorned with precious jewels and ornaments, emphasizing her enlightened qualities.
She is typically depicted seated in a vajra posture or meditating posture on a moon disc upon a lotus throne, symbolizing stability and transcendence over suffering.
She appears in a white form, draped in a multicolored garment, denoting the removal of disasters.
Her first right hand holds a small image of Amitabha Buddha.
Second right hand holds arrow.
Third right hand is resting on her knee with the palm facing upward, in granting mudra.
Her fourth hand holds double or crossed vajra (visvavajra) at her heart.
Her first left hand is in the gesture of abhaya mudra (protection), raised to the level of her ear with the palm facing outward.
Second left hand holds a bow.
Third left hand is in the gesture of meditative equipoise holding an auspicious nectar vase.
Fourth left hand holds a lasso.
Her upper hair tied in top knot and rest are flowing freely behind.
