The 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is one of the most prominent spiritual leaders of Tibetan Buddhism, recognized as the reincarnation of the 16th Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, within the Karma Kagyu lineage. Born on June 26, 1985, in a nomadic family in Lhathok, Eastern Tibet, his birth was accompanied by auspicious signs, affirming his role as a spiritual master.

The Karmapa is the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage, one of the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

Recognized as the embodiment of the activity of all Buddhas, the Karmapa is considered an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion.

The current Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is the 17th in the lineage.
